Kris Ellington

Kris Ellington spent  her formative years in Massachusetts and has lived in five other states as an adult. She has always been a conscientious voter; however, her level of political
engagement surged in November 2017. At that time, among other political actions, she
joined the League of Women Voters. She has been a member of the LWVT Natural
Resources and Clean Energy Committee for eight years.

After teaching for 15 years in public and private schools in Rhode Island, Louisiana, and
Florida, she assumed various leadership roles in Leon County Schools and then with the
Florida Department of Education (FDOE). Prior to retirement from the State in 2012, she
served as the Deputy Commissioner for Accountability, Research, and Measurement
with FDOE. In this role, she worked with State Board of Education members, legislative
staff, and made public policy and budget presentations to Florida House and Senate
Committees.

Upon retirement from state employment, she worked in the private sector at
the national level as an advisor to the President of The College Board. She closed out her
career as a special consultant to the Council of Chief State School Advisors, the
national organization of states’ education commissioners.

Kris's professional experiences helped her recognize, value, and develop the interpersonal
skills and work ethics most effective in achieving key goals and leading people. She is
honored to serve on the LWVT Board of Directors.
