Maryjeanne Lykes, 2nd Vice President

I was born and raised in Mississippi until age 13 when my family followed my dad’s career as dean of FSU Law School to this beautiful capital city of Tallahassee in 1969. I attended Florida High and graduated on to pursue my interest in political science at New College and then FSU where I combined that with my interest in ballet as I enjoyed my work time as a commercial mullet fisherman back before the net ban.
I have continued my involvement in both the outdoors, agriculture, and the political sphere. Having founded fruit and vegetable stands, MaryJeanne’s Greens, and a specialty fruit and vegetable service to commercial and private clients with my business Growing Season, I worked my two children in both the picking and bundling and preparing for customers.
I grew up knowing the value of the League of Women Voters from my mother and grandmother. My interest has taken me from poll worker to canvassing to Advance Team work for the VPOTUS. As a recent widow, I have time and energy to devote to causes I am drawn to. I’m not sure where I will be needed in the Tallahassee league, but I will give it my all and learn daily.
